nbn® New Development Fee
If your premises has never had an nbn® connection before (for example a new building, new dwelling, or a site that needs a new nbn® connection / new mailing address), nbn® Co may charge a New Development Fee of $300 for deploying network infrastructure to that premises.
- This is an nbn® Co charge, not a Smart Phone Systems setup fee on standard plans.
- It may apply even when our plan has no setup fee.
- We will tell you before you order if this fee looks likely to apply at your address.
- Existing premises that already have (or previously had) an nbn® service are usually not charged this fee — we’ll confirm when we qualify your address.

Do you lock us into a long contract?
Standard business NBN plans are month-to-month (minimum 1 month). Enterprise Fibre $0 install offers may need a longer term — we’ll spell that out before you order.
Will this work with a business phone system?
Yes. These plans are commonly used with business VoIP. We’ll help you choose a speed that matches concurrent calls and other office traffic.
Is a modem included?
Not by default. You need an NBN-ready modem/router unless we quote hardware separately.
What is the nbn® New Development Fee?
If a site has never had nbn® connected, nbn® Co may charge a $300 New Development Fee to deploy network infrastructure to that premises. This can apply to new dwellings, lots under reconstruction, and new buildings needing a new mailing address. It is separate from our plan pricing. We will advise you before signup if it may apply.
What contract am I on?
Standard business NBN plans are month-to-month with a 1-month minimum and no 12–24 month lock-in. Enterprise Fibre / $0 fibre install offers are different — they are typically subject to site qualification and a longer term (commonly 36 months), and early exit fees may apply. We’ll confirm the term on your quote.
Can I get a static IP?
Yes — $4.95/month inc. GST. Recommended if you host servers on-site.
How long does install take?
For most standard business NBN plans, once the order is accepted you’re usually looking at a few business days — subject to nbn® availability at the address, appointment windows, and whether any new development works are needed. If the site has never had nbn® before, install can take longer. Enterprise Fibre is different: timelines depend on site qualification, build requirements, and the agreed term — we’ll give you a clearer window on your quote.
What happens to my phone if the NBN drops?
If you use our hosted phone system, calls ride on your internet connection. So if the NBN drops, internet and desk/softphone calling go down together. The reassuring option is our 4G/5G data SIM failover (if you’ve got it on the service): when the fixed line fails, traffic can fail over to mobile data so the phone system can keep working. Without failover, you’ll need the NBN (or another working internet path) back up before hosted calling resumes.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
Yes. Number porting is supported. We transfer your existing number across to the hosted phone system, so you don’t need to tell customers and suppliers a new number.
What speed do I really need?
Match the plan to how many people are online at once and what they do. Basic browsing and email are usually fine on the lower tiers. Video calls and several people sharing the link are more comfortable from about 100 Mbps+. Heavier multi-user, large files, or busier offices generally point to 250 Mbps and up. Tell us your headcount and we’ll recommend a tier — it’s easier than guessing from a speed chart alone.
